Xander never stays in the same place for long. He has many secrets and a rough past. He stops at a bar and his world changed. He met Paige. Her father offered him a job and everything seemed perfect. Until Xander ended up in a jail cell.

I loved this book. Paige is such a strong willed woman who deals with her past the best way she can. Xander swoops in like a knight in shining armor. Even though he has his own demons. He wants to protect her and I loved that. There was so much suspense and romance that it kept me on my toes.

For being the first book BT wrote solo, he definitely did not disappoint. I look forward to reading more of this series and whatever else he writes.

It is definitely a book I will recommend to my friends. Great job BT!

"How about twenty questions?" I ask.

"I hate twenty questions."

"How about five questions, then?"

He cracks a smile and lifts an eyebrow. "How about three?"

"Deal!"

"So, have I mentioned how much I fucking hate Tuesdays?" Brandi's voice cuts right between us. Xander looks relieved.

Me? Not so much. "Damn it, Brandi!"

"What?"

"Oh nothing. Can you grab me Fireball though? Pretty please. Two of them." I look at Xander. "You're taking one."

"Three. I am too, bitch! Fuck Tuesdays!" Brandi calls out from across the bar as she begins filling the shot glasses from the Fireball chiller.

"Question one. You said you’ve been traveling for a while now, right? Do you ever get tired of it? Ever feel like settling?”

"Damn. Starting out with the heavy hitters, huh?" He eyes the shot glasses as if hoping it will somehow make them fill faster.

"Need me to go easier on you? Maybe a finger or two first before I go in with the whole fist?"

He looks at me in disbelief. "Did you really just say that?"

"Just answer the question, two fingers or three?"

BT Urruela was an infantryman in the US Army from August 2004 until February 2011. At the end of a year long tour to Baghdad, Iraq, his vehicle was hit by two roadside bombs, which took his right leg below the knee and the life of his commander. He was awarded a Purple Heart for his wounds, an Army Commendation Medal, and Combat Infantryman's Badge. He medically retired from the Army in 2011 and moved to Tampa, FL where he currently works as a Director and Brand Ambassador for VETSports, a veteran community sports nonprofit he co-founded in 2012. He also conducts motivational speeches, works as a cover and fitness model and he's a personal performance trainer. He co-wrote the military romance novel A Lover's Lament and will be releasing his debut solo novel, Into the Nothing, on June 21st, 2016.

4.5 Awesome Stars

London is a self-entitled, spoiled brat, straight out of a sorority, still unsure what lies ahead for her future. That is until a chance meeting with and standoffish stranger.

Loic’s had a rough start, filled with disappointments and loss.
Women are the last thing he wants in his life. But after some chance meetings, he begins to find London hard to resist.
In all honesty, I wasn’t too keen on London as first, but I did find her interesting. She is a spoiled rich kid and loves herself. But as the book went on, she really grows as a character. I love the way Loic points out her flaws. She also is great for him and puts his needs first, which made me really like her. She also made me laugh with her internal thoughts about Loic.

Loic, from the prologue, broke my heart. And with each past chapter, I just fell more in love with him. If one character needs a happy ending, it’s Loic.

I have given this book 4.5 and not five stars because although there were some gasp moments and I was surprised, London’s immaturity occasionally annoyed me. But saying that, I think in the next story she will be a lot more likable because she grew a lot in this book. The pace was steady, but it is left on a bit of a cliff-hanger. I am glad I only have to wait until June to find out what happens next. This was a great and touching story and a definite must read.

“Listen, Loïc,” she starts to say, her voice sweet and kind.

“Just save it, London,” I snap before I can stop myself. My walls and ability to be an eternal asshole are back in full effect.

Her eyes widen, but she quickly composes herself. She stands on her tiptoes and gives me a small kiss on the cheek. My body stiffens at the contact. She turns to leave, and her hand grabs the knob of the door.

But then, almost on instinct, she looks back at me. “I was just going to say that I really want to be fucked up together. And whatever reason you have for thinking you don’t deserve someone to love you is wrong. I see you, Loïc, more than you think I do. You’re a good person, and you deserve way more in this life than you’re allowing yourself to have. I don’t know why you’re punishing yourself, but you should stop. Maybe I’m not the person you need, but you need to find the one who is. Everyone needs love, even a big, bad warrior. Not everything in life should be a battle.”

Ellie Wade resides in southwest Michigan with her husband, three young children, and two dogs. She has a Master’s degree in education from Eastern Michigan University and is a huge University of Michigan sports fan.
